The Price of Womanhood
I am not very active on Threads, but last week I couldn't resist chiming in on some guy’s hot take about Phoebe Philo's price tags. "Something feels off about her brand launch. Something about her selling $5000 unlined bags, $2000 wool pants, $1600 jeans, etc., at a time this just doesn’t sit right," he posted. Hmm. Because every other luxury brand is doing the same, so why the double standard? When I commented, he responded, "It’s just the way it feels to me, very impersonal and no real human connection." Really? How's that any different from other big brands out there, including the ones she has worked for? To me, it smells like misogyny.
