We all know, instinctively and through research, that hugs and comforting touches do wonders—from easing stress to boosting immunity, lifting our spirits, reducing pain, and even enhancing empathy. The desire to be loved and comforted is universal, and we spend much of our lives in this pursuit. While nothing can quite replace a heartfelt hug from someone we love, we often underestimate our power to make ourselves feel good—and how the right clothes can play a significant role in this.‌ Knits are fashion’s proverbial hugs, and as the temperatures fall, don't miss the opportunity to tap into these items for style, comfort and joy. SATURDAY AUGUST 24th from 2pm to 4pm: BOOK SIGNING with Kathleen Boyes. Author Kathleen Boyes has collaborated with Calvin Klein on his book Calvin, co-authored Donna Karan’s memoir, My Journey (she also recited the audiobook), Trish McEvoy’s The Power of Makeup, Fete: The Wedding Experience, Tommy Hilfiger’s New England and Cindy Crawford’s Basic Face. She has an incredible copywriting history for clients that include Estée Lauder, Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan, AND she was a fashion editor for Women’s Wear Daily and W magazine. Most recently, she wrote the beautiful novel RAMS HEAD, which in my opinion deserves its own TV series. Rams Head is the fascinating story of suffragists and friends Carter and Lucille journey to Shelter Island, NY, to open a glamorous country inn hoping to welcome New York’s high society, but they find themselves hosting a cast of misfits instead: war widows, a runaway wife, a pregnant teenager, and more. A great read, and a beautiful setting in one of the most storied places of Shelter Island.
