Full Bio

Gretchen Comly is the founder and creative director for her namesake. Her career as a marketing acquisitions vice president for Universal Studios and Dreamworks took a turn towards her passion, design.  Gretchen develops a lush urban line for the bold independent woman. Her inspiration is derived from extensive travels and trekking/mountaineering in Italy, Morocco, Kenya, Tanzania, Nepal, Guatemala, and South East Asia, as well as several years of residence in Amish country, Sydney, Australia, Hong Kong, Grenoble, France and London. 

Gretchen studied economics at Hollins College, Virginia and the University of London. Her design background was derived in the evenings at the San Francisco Art Institute and the Otis School of Design in Los Angeles while bringing start up internet companies public in the Silicon Valley. 

Gretchen's designs have been sold worldwide by Fragments in NYC and carried by Neiman Marcus, Sundance Catalog, Calypso Nationwide, Barneys NY, Anthropologie, Henri Bendel and Gorsuch. Gretchen's designs are handmade by women artisans in Montreal, Brooklyn, New York, and Los Angeles.
