About Us

About Us

Matriark is a special boutique in the Hamptons designed to advance women’s equality through commerce and community.

We feature fashion, design and lifestyle items selected exclusively from women-owned companies. We hope to offer you an easy and convenient way to find these companies, support them, hire their services and cheer them on. The more we support them, the more empowered and independent the women behind them will be.

The name Matriark is inspired by the power of women leaders – past, present and future – and the positive impact that female leadership in all forms has on the world around us.

We welcome everyone –  all ages, races, creeds, orientations and identifications – to join our efforts and be part of our community.

Matriark is just starting. We have a lot coming up and we want to be your go-to place to find amazing things while contributing to a more equal world, so keep checking us out!

Our Manifesto

Our Manifesto

We are Matriark.
We are women first, women led, and women powered.
We exist to advance women’s equality, thoughtfully and purposefully,
And to celebrate the women who came to make the world a more beautiful place.

We believe that women deserve a real return on their enduring investment in our families, our livelihoods, and planet.
And that by coming together, a more equitable world is possible.
We are a community of designers, artists, leaders, makers, CEO’s, philanthropists, activists, mothers, and more.
Across generations, without labels.
Together, our spending power has the potential to create the changes we wish to see.

To those in pursuit of beauty and equality,
We believe it should be easy to choose both.
We invite you to join our community, movement, and efforts,
and help support our ongoing purpose:

To give women their long awaited seat at the table, and invite them to stay as long as they want.

Our Founder

Our Founder

Patricia Assui Reed has been working behind the scenes as a buyer and communications executive in luxury and fashion retail for over 20 years. She has proudly worked for companies like Tiffany & Co., ABC Carpet and Home, and Polo Ralph Lauren. Most recently, and through Brazilian powerhouse Iguatemi, she had the privilege to collaborate with Christian Louboutin, Diane von Furstenberg, Goyard, Ralph Lauren and Vilebrequin. She is also the Executive Producer of Iguatemi Fashion Talks, the largest fashion conference in Latin America.

Today, even though 75% of fashion customers are women, only 14% of major fashion brands are actually led by women. Patricia saw these statistics first hand and decided to use her experience to help advance women’s equality.
She founded Matriark to connect talented women making beautiful products, offering unique services, and creating inspiring art to conscious consumers and taste makers. Through Matriark’s success, she hopes to funnel a significant amount of funds to important charities that are addressing the many ways inequality affect women and girls around the world.

Patricia was born in Brazil to Japanese grandparents, but has lived in the States her entire adult life. She currently lives in New York with her husband Ron and her 2 kids and, when she is not looking for women-owned brands, you can find her doing yoga, running around with her family, or just relaxing in the Hamptons.

What We Believe

What We Believe

Strong Women Raise Us All
We believe that all people benefit when women are inspired, successful and powerful. Business is a potent means for women to achieve greater success and influence. When women succeed in business, they not only get a seat at the table and an opportunity to advocate for equality, they also fight for the betterment of their families, their communities and the world we all live in.

Beauty Can Make A Difference
We believe that for too long there has been a false choice between style and integrity, between beauty and serious substance. Matriark believes that beauty, intelligence and bravery can go hand in hand.

Generational Labels Don’t Define Us
Matriark celebrates both the eternal optimism and possibility of youth as well as the patina and wisdom that comes from a few missed boats, broken hearts and spilled drinks. We are much more than the generation we were born into, and we all benefit from connections and relationships with those both older and younger than us.

All Welcome
Inclusivity, diversity and collaboration are fundamental to us. Beyond inviting women of all ages, races, creeds, orientations and identifications to be a part of the Matriark experience, we also welcome men and non-binary people who believe in our mission to join us in our efforts.
